About The Senior Safe

Independent, research-based reviews of medical alert systems — honest about what we do, and what we don't.

Disclosure: The Senior Safe is affiliate-supported — if you buy through some links on this site we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes which providers we recommend. This page is general consumer information, not medical or financial advice.

Who we are

The Senior Safe is an independent review site focused on one thing: helping seniors and their families choose a medical alert system with confidence. Buying a personal emergency response device is a decision that carries real weight — it is about someone's safety, their independence, and often a monthly bill that will run for years. We built The Senior Safe because that kind of decision deserves clear, honest, research-based information rather than hype or pressure.

We are not affiliated with any medical alert provider. We do not accept payment in exchange for a better ranking, and no company can buy its way onto our recommended lists. Our loyalty is to the reader who is trying to make a good choice for a parent, a spouse, or themselves.

Our honest methodology

Here is exactly how we produce our comparisons — and where the honest limits of that method lie:

What we do not do: We do not physically test devices, and we do not run a testing lab. We have no hands-on wear-testing, no stopwatch response-time trials of our own, and no in-house engineering bench. When a figure like a response time comes from a provider, we say so and treat it as self-reported. We also never invent ratings — if we cannot confirm a number from a credible source, we leave it out rather than guess. For medical purchases, an approximate number is worse than no number.

When you read "we compared," "we researched," or "we analyzed" on this site, that is the literal truth of the work. You will never read "we tested" or "in our testing lab," because we don't, and we won't pretend otherwise.

Who writes it

Ilane Tall, Founder & Lead Researcher

Consumer-research editor at The Senior Safe. I compare and analyze medical alert providers using published pricing, feature documentation, and verified customer reviews. I am not a medical professional, and I do not test devices in a lab.

All recommendations are based on documented provider data and customer review analysis — not physical testing or fabricated credentials.

The Senior Safe is led by Ilane Tall, Founder and Lead Researcher. Ilane's role is that of a consumer-research editor: gathering provider documentation, reconciling conflicting pricing, reading through verified customer reviews, and translating dense fine print into plain English that a busy family can actually use.

To be clear and honest about credentials: Ilane is not a doctor, nurse, or licensed medical professional, and The Senior Safe does not claim any clinical expertise. We will never fabricate medical titles or credentials to look more authoritative. Our expertise is in careful consumer research and honest comparison — nothing more, and nothing we can't stand behind.

How we make money

The Senior Safe is affiliate-supported. Some of the links to providers on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click through and sign up, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. That commission is how we keep the site free to read.

Crucially, being paid on a sale does not influence which providers we recommend or how we rank them. We reach our conclusions first, from the research, and the affiliate relationship never changes them. If a provider we earn nothing from is the better choice for a given need, we say so. Every affiliate link on the site is disclosed, and outbound provider links carry rel="nofollow sponsored" so that search engines understand the relationship too.

Not medical or financial advice. Everything on The Senior Safe is general consumer information to help you compare products. It is not a substitute for professional advice. Medical alert systems are not medical devices in the clinical sense, and nothing here should be taken as a diagnosis, treatment recommendation, or guidance on insurance or benefits eligibility. Always consult a qualified medical professional about health needs, and confirm coverage details (such as Medicare or Medicaid) directly with your plan.
